No Drugs Down the Drain!

"A vast array of pharmaceuticals including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones - have been found in the drinking water upplies of at least 41 million Americans...the presence of so many prescription drugs - and over-the-counter medicines like acetaminophen and ibuprofen - in so much of our drinking water is heightening worries among scientists of long-term consequences to human health." -- Associated Press, 3/10/08

Bring in waste medicines and sharps to any convenient disposal site around Santa Cruz County or in the Cities of Santa Cruz, Capitola, Watsonville, and Scotts Valley. Look for a large mailbox-type collection container at your local pharmacist.  Please note that some sites take only sharps, or only medicines.

If disposing sharps, please remember that as of September 1st, 2008 it is illegal to dispose sharps in an unapproved container.  $3 off coupons are available for approved containers at participating pharmacy counters.
